The VW foundation is currently funding a programm on "New Conceptual Approaches to Modeling and simulation of Complex Systems" with special emphasis on "Computer simulations of molecular and cellular biological systems and complex soft matter". Within this program a symposium is organized on "New trends in simulating biological systems and soft matter". Through talks and posters, the symposium will give the funded projects the opportunity to prensent the current status of their research. It is expected that lively discussions lead to an exchange of common ideas and to the development of new perspectives.
Opening
The Secretary General of the Volkswagen Foundation Dr. Wilhelm Krull will give the inaugural of the 3rd VW Status Symposium.
Topics
The symposium aims at discussing the topic in its breadth by bringing together international experts in the field and researchers associated with the VW program. Through invited talks, special emphasis will be given to:
- simulations of biomolecular systems
- modeling of enzymatic reactions
- simulations of soft matter
- modeling of active particle systems
- transport through nanopores and in confined geometries
- fluctuation theorems in soft matter
